Baseball Recap: Riverside Prep Has No Trouble Against University Prep

Riverside Prep came into Tuesday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the University Prep Jaguars on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Silver Knights, who have now won nine games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Cayman Pluma was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Riverside Prep is 7-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. Pluma was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Adrian Jorge Jr. and Andrew Logsdon did most of the damage at the plate: Jorge Jr. went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles, while Logsdon scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Riverside Prep is undefeated when Logsdon posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Bourgeois, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Riverside Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Riverside Prep's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for University Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Riverside Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jaguars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
