If the Westlake Charter Explorers were feeling good off their 56-17 takedown of the John Adams Academy Patriots last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Westlake Charter took a 50-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of John Adams Academy on Thursday. Westlake Charter found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Lena Tahod and Chigozie Igwegbe certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Tahod scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Igwegbe scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
John Adams Academy found their leader in underclassman Elliott Schwartz, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 21 rebounds. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Schwartz has scored at least a third of John Adams Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Taguinod, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Westlake Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for John Adams Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 19 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Westlake Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. John Adams Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
