It was a good run, but the Arvin Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Tehachapi, falling 63-28. Arvin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-9.
When it comes to explaining why Arvin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Roxana Fernandez. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with nine steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marianna Ortiz, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Tehachapi's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Walden, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Kennedy Perkins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Arvin's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Tehachapi, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arvin will square off against Lone Pine at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lone Pine has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Tehachapi, they will head out on the road to challenge South at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1091st, while Tehachapi is ranked 151st).
