Softball Recap: Seckman Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mehlville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seckman). Everything went their way against the Mehlville Panthers on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Aubrey Bequette looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Seckman let Kaylee Denman and Kylie Kohlberg run wild. Denman went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Kohlberg went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Kohlberg has posted over her last ten games. Another player making a difference was Savannah Baur, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Seckman now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Mehlville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seckman will take on Fort Zumwalt East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mehlville, they will face off against Affton at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
