The La Joya Coyotes lost to the Montwood Rams back in December of 2022, but the La Joya Coyotes didn't allow the Montwood Rams the same satisfaction on Saturday. La Joya snuck past Montwood with a 32-27 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for La Joya.
La Joya's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leo Hinojosa, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Sergio Gomez, who scored six points.
The win got La Joya back to even at 13-13. As for Montwood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Joya is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Weslaco at 1:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Weslaco will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Montwood, they will head out on the road to face off against El Dorado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully El Dorado focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 two weeks ago.
