Flint River Academy dropped down to 3-5 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 6-2 to the Heritage Hawks. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
Flint River Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhyan Banks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Taylor Callahan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
As for Heritage, the win got them back to even at 3-3-1. They haven't had any issues with Flint River Academy recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
On Heritage's side, Kaelynn Sweger made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Sweger was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Kaylee Cotten was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abby Dunlap, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flint River Academy will face off against Upson-Lee at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Heritage, they will challenge Central Fellowship Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
