Derry is 7-0 against Valley since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Derry Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Derry is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Derry had to suffer through a rough 42-12 loss at the hands of Greensburg Salem. While losing is never fun, Derry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Greensburg Salem is ranked 119th).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Valley, who are still winless after their fifth game. They took a serious blow against Apollo Ridge on Monday, falling 48-14. Valley has struggled against Apollo Ridge recently, as their matchup on Monday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Derry has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything came up roses for Derry against Valley when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 69-36 win. With Derry ahead 42-19 at the half, the match was all but over already.
