There's no place like home for Leroy Greene Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Esparto Spartans with a sharp 18-0 win on Monday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Philip Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Leroy Greene Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise. Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maison Wunder was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Leroy Greene Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-9 when he doesn't). Robert Callahan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1.

Leroy Greene Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Esparto only posted an OBP of .250.

Leroy Greene Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Esparto, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Coming up, Leroy Greene Academy will face off against Elite at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Esparto, they will take on Delta at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Saints will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
