Juniata has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Greenwood Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Juniata is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greenwood in Pennsylvania (Juniata is ranked 116th, while Greenwood is ranked 242nd).
On Saturday, Juniata had to suffer through a rough 83-43 loss at the hands of Southern Huntingdon County. Juniata has not had much luck with Southern Huntingdon County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, the stars were shining brightly for Greenwood in a 43-25 win over West Shore Christian Academy on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Greenwood.
It was another big night for Leah Ritzman, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and seven blocks. Ritzman is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Hale, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.
Juniata's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Greenwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Juniata suffered a grim 44-23 defeat to Greenwood when the teams last played back in January. Can Juniata avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
