The New Castle Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 60-52 to Yorktown. New Castle has not had much luck with Yorktown recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, New Castle still got an impressive performance from Emma Hart, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 51.9% of New Castle's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kaidyn Minyard was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Yorktown was led to victory by Addy Barnes and Lilly Sylvester. Barnes scored 19 points along with three steals, while Sylvester scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barnes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Conklin, who scored eight points along with three steals.
New Castle has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Yorktown, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8.
New Castle will head out on the road to challenge Mt. Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Yorktown, they will be playing at home against Greenfield-Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
