The Freeport Yellowjackets suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Monday. They suffered a rough 53-31 defeat at the hands of Greensburg Salem. While losing is never fun, Freeport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while Greensburg Salem is ranked 125th).
Kaitlyn Mankins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Greensburg Salem, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gia Rosensteel, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Freeport's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Greensburg Salem, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
Freeport will head out on the road to face off against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greensburg Salem, they will be playing at home against Derry at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Derry is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
