Sayre struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (Williamson had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sayre had to suffer through a rough 60-20 loss at the hands of Williamson. Aubri Husted held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northwest Area earned a 41-30 victory over Blue Ridge on Friday.
It was another big night for Karsyn Miner, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Northwest Area's points. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Hermanofski, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Sayre's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Northwest Area, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Sayre have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 18.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northwest Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 32.6 rebounds per game. Given Sayre's sizeable advantage in that area, Northwest Area will need to find a way to close that gap.
