Basketball Recap: Alyse Lomeli and Takhiya Hardin Secure Win for Patterson

Patterson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They managed a 36-30 victory over the Sierra Timberwolves. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 468th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Patterson to victory were Takhiya Hardin and Alyse Lomeli. Hardin dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals, while Lomeli dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. Those ten steals gave Hardin a new career-high.

Sierra's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Everett, who posted 12 points along with six blocks and three steals. Everett has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last eight times she's played. Alison Cozby was another key player, putting up seven points and seven rebounds.

Patterson's record is now 19-4. As for Sierra, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-10.

Patterson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-32 loss against Central Catholic on the 28th. As for Sierra, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 59-38 defeat against East Union on the 28th.
