After a string of seven wins, the Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Loma Linda Academy by a score of 45-42.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Torika Avoi, who scored ten points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Avoi hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Kaia Miller was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Rio Lindo Adventist's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Loma Linda Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-2.
Rio Lindo Adventist will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Loma Linda Academy, they will head out on the road to take on the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodcrest Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 780th, while the Roadrunners are ranked 382nd).
