The Arroyo Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Marshall Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Arroyo is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Arroyo proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 14) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand South El Monte a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since April 21, 2025.

Oscar Lopez
The result came thanks to Oscar Lopez's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arroyo is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Arroyo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andres Mardueno, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marshall). Everything went their way against Mountain View on Friday as they made off with a 14-4 win.
Elijah Lain made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, David Ouch was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Liam Wahlstrom was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Marshall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.6.
Arroyo's record now sits at 7-5. As for Marshall, their record is now 4-9.
Arroyo came out on top in a nail-biter against Marshall when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
