Fortuna is a perfect 3-0 against Point Arena since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Huskies will host the Pirates at 1:00 p.m. Fortuna is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Biggs hit Fortuna with a seven-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies came up short against the Wolverines, falling 13-2. The game marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Meanwhile, Point Arena gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Everything went their way against Laytonville as they made off with a 15-3 victory. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Jose Bernal made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Jean-Carlo Arambula and Julian Villagomez did most of the damage at the plate: Arambula went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Villagomez went 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Max Ulrich was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fortuna's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Point Arena, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything went Fortuna's way against Point Arena in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Fortuna made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
