Hammond and Slidell are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Hammond Tornadoes will be playing at home against the Slidell Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hammond will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Slidell is ranked 48th).
Hammond suffered their biggest defeat since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 73-50 walloping at the hands of St. Paul's. It was the first time this season that Hammond let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Hammond got a solid performance out of Justin Harland, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Cartez Williams, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Slidell waltzed into their game on Thursday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They came out on top against St. Paul's by a score of 57-49.
Hammond's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10. As for Slidell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Hammond was able to grind out a solid win over Slidell when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 68-60. Does Hammond have another victory up their sleeve, or will Slidell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
