The Calaveras Red Hawks waltzed into their matchup Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Twelve Bridges 61-28 on the road. The result was nothing new for Calaveras, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Calaveras had a senior duo take command as Izzy Tapia scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and Ginger Scheidt scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Scheidt has scored at least 25% of Calaveras' points. Another player making a difference was Haileyjane Knox, who scored eight points.
Twelve Bridges lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mia DeMatteis, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Carpenter, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Calaveras' victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Twelve Bridges, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
