After losing to the Glen Lake Lakers the last time they met, the Mason County Central Spartans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Mason County Central took down Glen Lake 56-42 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mason County Central.
Several Lakers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eleanor Valkner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Valkner is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Jessie Pugh was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Glen Lake struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Mason County Central pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 19.92 points. As for Glen Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Mason County Central the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Gaylord at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Gaylord will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Mason County Central is ranked 57th). As for Glen Lake, they will head out on the road to face off against Suttons Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Suttons Bay comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
