The Omaha Central Eagles had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They snuck past Gretna with a 51-47 victory. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Omaha Central has scored all year.
Daleron Thomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Holmon, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Loss or not, Gretna got some senior leadership from Alex Wilcoxson who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and Kade Cook who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The match was Wilcoxson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Landon Pokorski, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Omaha Central's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Gretna, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Omaha Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bellevue West at 7:15 p.m. on January 3rd. Bellevue West has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 698 points over their last nine matches. As for Gretna, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln North Star on Saturday.
