Basketball Recap: Bonita's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Bonita won the last time they faced Walnut, and Lexi Mercado did her part to make sure it happened again. Everything went the Bonita Bearcats' way against the Walnut Mustangs on Tuesday as the Bonita Bearcats made off with a 57-35 win thanks in part to Mercado, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. What's more, she also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024.

Jayden Uballe was another key player, going 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, Walnut still got an impressive performance from Claire Olia, who posted 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrina Bramucci, who earned six points.

The victory made it two in a row for Bonita and bumps their season record up to 20-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27 points. As for Walnut, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Bonita wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 45-25 win against Glendora on the 30th. As for Walnut, they have also already played their next contest, a 53-29 defeat against Diamond Bar on the 30th.
