Mason Bentley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Russ Kleine, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hauser ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past South Decatur 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jets have posted against the Cougars since May 13, 2022.
Stryker Gill made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Gill wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was R.J. Foster, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Hauser has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Morristown, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Morristown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like Hauser struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
