The Perry Commodores will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Elgin Comets at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th.
Last Saturday, Perry was the victim of a rough 58-32 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs. Perry has struggled against the Mustangs recently, as their game on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
In what's become a running theme this season, Elgin gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They breezed by Upper Scioto Valley on the road to the tune of 52-25. Elgin pushed the score to 42-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams had little chance of recovering from.
Elgin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maycee Muselin led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Samantha Girton was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Perry's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Elgin, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Perry strolled past the Comets in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 39-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
