The New Paltz Huguenots will take on the Goshen Central Gladiators at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Paltz will be strutting in after a victory while Goshen Central will be coming in after a loss.
New Paltz is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Saugerties 12-3 on Wednesday. The Huguenots haven't had any issues with the Sawyers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Sean Rusnack tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because New Paltz is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, New Paltz let Jack Maiale and Nick Drewnowski run wild. Maiale went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Drewnowski went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Drewnowski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Malcolm Dillehay, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
New Paltz was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Goshen Central didn't have quite enough to beat Warwick on Monday and fell 4-3.
F Mitterbauer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Stephen Kovacs was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
New Paltz's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Goshen Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-1.
