Hoover had lost seven straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 6-15 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Oak Park Eagles by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-4 on Wednesday.
Kieran Sinta and Alex Weimar did some serious damage despite the final result: Sinta got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Weimar went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Flores, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Oak Park, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 27, 2024.
On Oak Park's side, Tyler Kutsch was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Kutsch was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cyrus Javadi was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Berro, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoover will take on Muir at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Park, they will square off against Royal at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Highlanders have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
