Baseball Recap: Carter Has No Trouble Against Colton

Carter's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Colton Yellowjackets. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Keith Lockhart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other pitching news, Ricardo Martinez tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Carter is undefeated when Martinez allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Jacob Arcos was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Nunez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Carter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Carter now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Colton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Carter will have a chance to go back-to-back against Colton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
