After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Winnsboro, The Pottsboro Cardinals were happy to have found some success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-28 victory over Rains at home. The result was nothing new for Pottsboro, who have now won three matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Major Mcbride continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 125 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Mcbride is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Cameron Saunders was another key contributor, picking up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Pottsboro's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Cayson Watson.
Pottsboro's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Rains and 1-7 Bonham (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.4% over those games). As for Rains, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Pottsboro will head out on the road to face off against Commerce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rains, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mineola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
