The Alhambra Bulldogs will take on the Rodriguez Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Rodriguez will be up against a hot Alhambra squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Alhambra never let Monte Vista get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory last Monday. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Cameron Millar tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Daniel Rivera-Parra and Shane Cowperthwaite did most of the damage at the plate: Rivera-Parra scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Cowperthwaite scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three hits gave Rivera-Parra a new career-high. Morgan Tran was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Alhambra hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez entered their tilt with River City on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Raiders 11-3.
Rodriguez also got a great performance from Nick Schikore as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Rodriguez let Ben Vaughn and Jack Jacobson run wild. Vaughn scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Jacobson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Rodriguez is undefeated when Jacobson posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Drew Beasley, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
Alhambra pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rodriguez, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Alhambra has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rodriguez struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Alhambra couldn't quite get it done against Rodriguez when the teams last played back in March of 2020 as they fell 6-3. Will Alhambra have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
