It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Maywood CES had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Fremont Pathfinders with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Wolfpack have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Andrew Moran looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
The win (which was Maywood CES' sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
Looking ahead, Maywood CES will square off against Monroe at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fremont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
