Fall River has gone 6-1 against Burney recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Raiders at 3:00 p.m. Fall River has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 7.
Fall River is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 20-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity on Friday. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Eli Nix made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all six of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Berrick Earnest, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Burney also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Chester by a score of 10-7. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Volcanoes: they've now lost seven in a row.
Elliot Compton put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cort Covert was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Fall River's record now sits at 1-13. As for Burney, their record is now 4-11.
Fall River came out on top in a nail-biter against Burney in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
