Basketball Recap: Mackenzie Feeney Key Part of a Team Effort in Trailblazers Win

After losing to Heritage Christian the last time they met, University decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The University Trailblazers walked away with a 47-39 win over the Heritage Christian Eagles on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trailblazers.

University's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mackenzie Feeney, who went 6 for 8 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Those 13 points gave Feeney a new career-high. Gabby Culp was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

University was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Christian only racked up four assists.

Heritage Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Joslyn Marshall, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Taylor, who put up eight points and ten rebounds.

University is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Heritage Christian, their record is now 5-9.

University wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 39-31 defeat against Lewis Cass on the 28th. As for Heritage Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-40 victory against Northside L on the 28th.
