Paraclete hasn't had much luck against Bishop Amat recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Spirits will take on the Lancers at 11:30 a.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Paraclete took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Highland by a score of 5-2.
Mason Jacobo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Armando Saucedo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Paraclete hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bishop Amat came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolfpack a 3-0 shutout.
Bishop Amat also got a great performance from Gavyn Alfaro as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Alfaro has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bishop Amat saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Campos, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Bishop Amat's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Paraclete, their record is now 8-12.
Paraclete couldn't quite finish off Bishop Amat when the teams last played back in March and fell 6-4. Can the Spirits avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
