Baseball Recap: Drew Charter Drops Highest Score of Season Against Salem

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Drew Charter). Everything went their way against the Salem Seminoles on Thursday as Drew Charter made off with a 20-1 win. The result was nothing new for Drew Charter, who have now won six matchups by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Walter Nunnally was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nunnally was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other pitching news, Alex DeCarlo looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Drew Charter got a massive performance out of Joseph Richburg, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. Richburg also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Drew Charter is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-5 otherwise. Myron Leonard was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Drew Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Drew Charter's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Salem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Drew Charter will head out to square off against Miller Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Drew Charter's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Miller Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Salem, they will square off against Redan at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
