Chowchilla is a perfect 3-0 against Dos Palos since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Tribe will welcome the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Chowchilla came out on top against Caruthers on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Tribe blew past the Blue Raiders 11-5. The Tribe might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Dillon Watkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Watkins was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brody Absher, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mateo Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, Dos Palos owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Firebaugh. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Broncos.
Not much got past Matt Chavez, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Firebaugh off the board. Chavez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tevin Clay was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Dos Palos' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 5-8-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Chaz Merrell, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Dos Palos' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Chowchilla, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
Everything went Chowchilla's way against Dos Palos when the teams last played back in March of 2018, as Chowchilla made off with a 19-6 victory. Do the Tribe have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
