Roosevelt dropped to 5-2 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Mead Mavericks, falling 17-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Roughriders have suffered since October 9, 2024.
Cali Bly and Lily Wiese did some serious damage despite the final result: Bly went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles, while Wiese went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jaidyn Jones also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Mead, the win got them back to even at 5-5. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.
On Mead's side, Abbie Hausotter was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Hausotter was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024.
In other batting news, Rosie Robuck was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Halie Gippe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Coincidentally, Roosevelt and Mead will both be playing The Classical Academy the next time they take the field. The Roughriders will host the Titans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Mavericks will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
