On Wednesday, Walnut strolled past Carson with points to spare, taking the game 53-35.
Walnut was led to victory by Maileeh Suasti and Florinalaulaau Liufau. Suasti scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Liufau scored 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Suasti has scored at least 25% of Walnut's points. Another player making a difference was Claire Olia, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Several Colts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Wheeler, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Jackson, who scored ten points.
Walnut's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Carson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Walnut won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Norte Vista at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th. Norte Vista will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 927th, while Walnut is ranked 353rd). Carson will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Mission Viejo at 9:00 a.m. on December 28th. Mission Viejo is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
