The Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Omaha North Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Southwest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Omaha North likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Lincoln Southwest beat Millard South 64-53.
Lincoln Southwest can attribute much of their success to Braden Frager, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds, and Bj Bradford, who scored 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Frager has scored at least 25% of Lincoln Southwest's points. Mari Shumaker was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Even though Omaha North has not done well against Millard South recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Omaha North came out on top against Millard South by a score of 68-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mynor Strong was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerri'on Williams, who scored 14 points.
Lincoln Southwest's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Omaha North, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Lincoln Southwest skirted past Omaha North 63-60 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln Southwest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
