Elkhorn South has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Omaha North Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Elkhorn South came up short against Lincoln North Star and fell 61-48. While losing is never fun, Elkhorn South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Lincoln North Star is ranked 23rd).
Despite the defeat, Elkhorn South had strong showings from Mollie Probasco, who scored 19 points along with two steals, and Aimee Burke, who scored 15 points. Probasco hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games.
Omaha North can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-48 win over Lincoln High. The victory was just what Omaha North needed coming off of a 64-44 defeat in their prior contest.
Elkhorn South now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Omaha North, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
Elkhorn South came up short against Omaha North in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 53-47. Can Elkhorn South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
