After a string of three wins, the Morningside Monarchs's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Leuzinger, falling 74-20. Morningside has not had much luck with Leuzinger recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Leuzinger had a senior duo take command as Dresha Moore dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds and Madison Watts scored 24 points along with three steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Sarabia, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Morningside's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Leuzinger, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.
Morningside will be playing in front of their home fans against Beverly Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Beverly Hills is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Leuzinger, they will head out on the road to square off against Inglewood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Inglewood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
