The Silver Creek Raptors will head out on the road to face off against the Broomfield Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Silver Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Niwot hit Silver Creek with a four-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raptors took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Raptors have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Abby LaCrosse was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. LaCrosse was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
LaCrosse wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Lane, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Broomfield entered their tilt with Eaglecrest on Monday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They blew past the Raptors 14-1. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Serenity Molloy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Lauren Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Broomfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups.
Silver Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Broomfield, their record now sits at 17-2.
Silver Creek might still be hurting after the 14-5 loss they got from Broomfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Raptors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
