The Hesperia Scorpions won the last time they faced the Sultana Sultans, and things went their way on Friday too. Hesperia took down Sultana 57-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hesperia.
It was another big night for Berlynn Miramontes, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Hesperia's points. Annabel Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 16 rebounds and six steals.
When it comes to explaining why Sultana lost, one person who can't be blamed is Katelyn Parrish. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amia Waller, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Hesperia has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. As for Sultana, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
Hesperia will head out on the road to face off against Oak Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sultana, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Apple Valley at 6:00 p.m.
