After a string of three wins, The Hopewell Valley Central Bulldogs''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 35-34 to Notre Dame. Hopewell Valley Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Notre Dame apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Hopewell Valley Central still got an impressive performance from Ben DeCore, who rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Hopewell Valley Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Notre Dame, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Hopewell Valley Central will take on Pinelands Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Notre Dame will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Paul VI at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Paul VI is ranked 44th, while Notre Dame is ranked 68th).
