Make it 11 blowout wins for the Ventura Cougars this season. They took their match at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 81-18 win over Rio Mesa. The win was familiar territory for Ventura who now have ten in a row.
Ventura got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kailee Staniland out in front who scored 13 points along with eight assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Knight, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Ventura's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3. As for Rio Mesa, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.
Ventura will be playing at home against Santa Barbara at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Santa Barbara will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 629th, while Ventura is ranked 26th). As for Rio Mesa, they will head out on the road to square off against Oxnard at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oxnard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 214 points over their last three games.
