Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mt. Carmel walked away with it. They never let the Elsinore Tigers get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Sundevils as they're now sitting on six straight.
Not much got past Jack Grassa, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Elsinore off the board. Grassa has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bryce Miller was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.
Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 22-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Elsinore, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-8.
As of now, neither Mt. Carmel nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
