The Oak Park Eagles will take on the Palm Springs Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oak Park had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 3-0 shutout. Given Oak Park's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Marshall is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Palm Springs has not lost a match since January 16th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Temescal Canyon. Two seems to be a good number for Palm Springs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Kimberly Rodriguez-Torres and
Nevaeh Alvarez, who scored both of Palm Springs' goals. The pair have combined for a total of eight so far this season.
The win made it two in a row for Oak Park and bumps their season record up to 11-6-2. As for Palm Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2-2 record this season.
