Baseball Recap: Hesperia Has No Trouble Against Serrano

Hesperia made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Serrano, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Hesperia Scorpions' way against the Serrano Diamondbacks on Friday as the Hesperia Scorpions made off with a 13-3 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ralph Herrera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Flores, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Thomas, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

Hesperia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hesperia pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Serrano, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hesperia will challenge Burroughs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Burroughs 3.6, Hesperia 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Serrano, they will face off against Apple Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Apple Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
