Steeleville took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over Zeigler-Royalton. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
The team relied heavily on Colin Vallett, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Moore, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Murphysboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Hamilton County, falling 12-4. On the bright side, the four- run effort marked the Red Devils' highest-scoring game to date.
Kanton Richards made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.
Murphysboro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Steeleville, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went Steeleville's way against Murphysboro when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Steeleville made off with an 8-1 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
