Johansen is 10-0 against Grace Davis since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Johansen Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Grace Davis Spartans at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Johansen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
Johansen scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They walked away with a 63-54 win over Beyer. The win made it back-to-back wins for Johansen.
Bethany Albarran and Jamie Zarilla were among the main playmakers for Johansen as the former dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Zarilla is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenda Constancio, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Grace Davis' recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their eighth straight defeat. They fell just short of Lathrop by a score of 40-38. While losing is never fun, Grace Davis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 890th, while Lathrop is ranked 429th).
Johansen pushed their record up to 15-12 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Grace Davis, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Johansen strolled past Grace Davis in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 52-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Johansen since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
