The Deer Valley Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Heritage 54-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Deer Valley has scored all season.
Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ze'ni Patterson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals. Patterson hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Bayot, who scored 11 points.
Deer Valley bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Heritage, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Deer Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Deer Valley in California (Liberty is ranked 210th, while Deer Valley is ranked 927th). Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oakland Tech at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th. Oakland Tech has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 252 points over their last four games.
