Baseball Recap: Treutlen Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Treutlen put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Montgomery County Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jack Walker was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Treutlen's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylan Page, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Acie Dickens, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Treutlen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.

Treutlen is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. Montgomery County is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Treutlen will square off against Jenkins at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Treutlen's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Jenkins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Montgomery County, they will challenge Treutlen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
